About Nora
I’m Nora Prunty Briggs — a writer, mother, and a woman in midlife too.
The House of Habits grew out of my own journey — and a growing curiosity about what helps us feel more like ourselves again.
I’m not standing outside this House with all the answers.
I’m living in it too.
The life behind the House
I came to this book through a life that has taken a few turns.
I practised as a pharmacist, later trained in nutritional therapy, built a business, and raised twin boys. Then — like so many women — I arrived in midlife wondering what the next part might look like.
The House of Habits began there.
Not with a grand reinvention, but with a growing curiosity about the small things that help us feel more like ourselves again.
What I’m curious about now
These days, I’m less interested in having life figured out and more interested in paying attention.
What helps us feel well in our own lives?
What helps us trust ourselves again?
What makes change last — without turning life into another project to manage?
I’m particularly curious about the years in the middle: the point when much of life has already been lived, but there is still so much life left to live.
That curiosity sits at the heart of my writing.
The House of Habits is where I’m exploring it.
And when I’m not writing…
I’m usually walking, reading, strength training, rearranging something in the house, or drinking a cup of tea that has probably gone cold because I’ve become distracted by an idea.
I love good conversation, quiet mornings, beautiful spaces and the ordinary rituals that make a life feel like your own.
I live in Surrey with my husband, David. Our twin boys are beginning lives of their own — which means I’m discovering, in real time, what this next chapter looks like too.
