The House of Habits

A Midlife Renaissance for Women

I’m currently writing The House of Habits — A Midlife Renaissance for Women, a book about the small, everyday ways we can create the conditions for a more nourishing and flourishing midlife.

There comes a point in many women’s lives when the old ways of doing things no longer quite fit.

Not because everything is wrong.

But because something is changing.

The House of Habits is an invitation to come home to yourself.

Before we enter the House…

By midlife, we have accumulated more than years.

Experiences. Expectations. Responsibilities. Relationships. Identities. Ways of responding to life.

Some have served us well. Others may have become so familiar that we barely notice we are carrying them.

And as the structures and rhythms of life begin to shift, different thoughts can begin to surface.

What now…
Is that it…
Surely I should have life all figured out by now…

The House of Habits begins by making space for what is beginning to surface.

Come inside.

The House of Habits is not about becoming someone new.

It is about becoming curious about the life you are already living.

The small things you do each day.
The environments you move through.
The ways you nourish, move, play, rest and sleep.

Because we cannot force ourselves into flourishing.

But we can begin to notice the conditions that help more of us emerge.

A glimpse inside

The House is organised into rooms, each exploring

a different part of the life we live every day.

You don’t need to change everything at once.

Sometimes one room is enough.

The Kitchen

The Nerve Centre

Where we begin to understand the patterns running quietly beneath our everyday lives — and why change can feel harder than it should.

The Greenhouse

The Conditions for Flourishing

Where we explore what helps a life to flourish — not through force or perfection, but by creating the conditions in which we can grow.

The Dining Room

Food, Freedom & Enough

Where we step away from rules, restriction and the endless search for the “right” way to eat — and begin to find our way back to nourishment, trust and enough.

Movement, Strength & Capability

The Exercise Room

Where movement becomes less about what our bodies look like, and more about what they allow us to do — building strength for the life we want to keep living.

The Playroom

Joy, Curiosity & Discovery

Where we make room for curiosity, play and the things that light us up — not because they are productive, but because they make us feel more alive.

The Sitting Room

Rest, Regulation & Restoration

Where we learn to recognise when our nervous system needs less, not more — and discover the small ways we can return to steadiness.

Sleep, Rest & Renewal

The Bedroom

Where we begin to see sleep not as time lost, but as part of how we restore, repair and prepare ourselves for the life waiting tomorrow.

The Hallway

Where It All Connects

Where we begin to see how the rooms of our lives influence one another — and how small changes in one place can quietly ripple through the whole House.

You are already here.

The House of Habits is not a blueprint for a better woman.

It is an invitation to notice what helps you feel nourished, steady, rested, alive and able to participate fully in your own life.

You don’t have to rebuild the whole House.

You can begin with one room.
